I received your call this morning with a deep
feeling of humility and pride. Quite naturally, I was very
greatly honored to learn of your desire that I continue as
Director of the FBI.
As you so readily understand, the challenges
that lie ahead in the internal security and criminal investiga-
tive fields are greater than ever before in the history of our
country. The personnel of the FBI join me in offering our
services in assisting you in any way possible in carrying
out the heavy burdens of your office.
It will be a pleasure to serve in your adminis-
tration.
