McClain Sikeston, MO 3144716412 3-5-93 To: Hillary Rodham Clinton Congratulations on your husband's election and on your appointment as head of the Health Care Task Force. As one of those 30 million uninsured Americans, I look forward to hearing your conclusions and solutions to this problem. Both the President and the Vice President have stated that in the budget discussion, everything is on the table. I know that consideration was given to postponing both the space station and the super collider, but that both projects are still on line. There has been much speculation that Texas politics (and Texas politicians Bentsen, Cisneros and Richards) took these items off the chopping block This sends the WRONG SIGNAL, and smacks of politics-as-usnal (that oft-used phrase From last years election season.) How can we justify these costly projects as long as we have thousands of homeless, hungry citizens in this country, children living in poverty, millions like me without health insurance, and a national debt of over 4 trillion dollars, on which we must pay exhorbitant interest? I am willing to secrifice to get this country back on its financial feet, but not if nonessential projects such as these are to continue to be funded at this time. While both may have menit, we Simply Cannot afford them right now. McClain Sikeston, MO 3144716412 I believe the majority of Americans are willing to make sacrifices For the good of the country and their children's future. But everyone must share the sacrifice and put the country's needs before politics and pork barrel spending Please illustrate your courage, commitment and leadership by patting these high profile projects on the back burner, where they belong. Sincerely, Phyllis Stonecipher 116 Lambert Rt5 Sikeston, Mo 63801
