C. Dear Miss LeHand, In talking to Fulton Oursler the other day we both agreed that President Roosevelt would probably love to read John Stein- beck's new novel, "The Grapes of Wrath." I do not remember ever sending him any books except his own "Government Not Politics," which I published, you may remember, before he was nominated for Presidency for the first time. Under separate cover a copy of "The Grapes of Wrath" is being mailed to you and I do hope you will find it convenient to bring it to the attention of the President. Although the book won't be published until April 14th we already have heard from a good many literary critics and many of them said that "The Grapes of Wrath" is the most significant piece of fiction ever published in America. Thanking you very kindly, believe me Yours respectfully Passallovia PC/rw PASCAL COVICI
