Founder and Chair
Dear Mr. President,
CHRISTINE KING FARRIS
Vice Chair and Treasurer
I want to thank you for making time in your incredibly busy
MARTIN LUTHER KING, III
schedule to visit with me at the white house on February 25th.
President and Chief Executive Officer
BERNICE A. KING
Your prompt response to our request for an increase in our grant
Secretary
through the National Park Service from $527,000 to $1 million dollars
is greatly appreciated. Also, I deeply appreciate your favorable
response to our request for you to identify someone to lead an
endowment campaign for the King Center to culminate in 2006, the
20th anniversary of the Martin Luther King, Jr. national holiday.
I want to the thank you and your Chief of Staff, Andrew Card, for the
efficient way he arranged and scheduled our meeting. We look
forward to hearing from him regarding the follow-up.
Let me take this opportunity to also thank you for autographing and
sending pictures to me and my staff from the King Center wreath-
laying visit. My staff and I are impressed by the fact that you sent
each one of them a personally-autographed photograph of
themselves with you. They ask that I convey to you their thanks and
warmest appreciation.
The rewards and responsibilities of being President of the most
diverse country in the world are indeed challenging. I pray that God
will continue to give you the strength, the wisdom and courage to do
what is right for all of the people. I thank you for your friendship
and support of the King legacy and dream.
Sincerely yours,
anth Sattling
