51 LK-153 William H. Meredith Hidden Valley Morehead, Kentucky 40351 20 August 1978 Motorhome Grayson Lake President Jimmy Carter White House Washington, D.C. Mr. President, I did not vote for you because I thought you were poorly qualified and incapable of handling the horrible job of ruling this Country from such a high throne of power. I think that the mass media, and other private interests, make it almost impossible for any mortal man to properly lead our Country in the way the founding fathers such as Franklin-JeffersonAdams-Washington envisioned and intended. Not only mortal man , I don't think Jesus Christ himself, could do the job that you are asked to do with all of the restrictions put upon you by the two other branches of government that they set up, and the much more terrible, and terrifying, fourth estate, or self appointed fourth branch of government - the slimy media running head strong and careless in their responsibilities to our best interests. THEY destroyed one President, and now they are starting on their second, as if they were playing a game of chess, and " to hell " with the welfare of the United States and it's people. I just want you to know that my family has been in this land as long as any you can name, including the Carters, and I think that you are a good and sincere man, that you walked into a tougher job than you realized, but that you are doing as good a job as any man could possibly do.; that each and every citizen of this country should be behind you one hundred percent, as I am It frightens me to think that we must restrict what they ( TV particularly ) call"freedom of the press " They love to cite poor old Tom Jefferson from two hundred years ago, who could'nt possibly have forseen this terrible monster in our midst. But if I have to chose between a strong country with a leader who has the absolute power to rule, or an irresponsible TV with only idiots to watch it, and believe anything that they hear and see to be true - then I will chose my government and my President. They, not the office of President, have forced this painful choice. I ask that you act now, before it is to late. Cut them down to size, şimilar to what they do in England, ie; respect the Throne. It has to be done, and you will undoubtably be a one term president mainly do to their efforts. NO ONE can possibly live in the fierce light that they suffer the President to. You are expected to ALWAYS tell the absolute truth, although it is not in the best interests of our Country. This is silly as hell, and ridiculous. Mr. President you are doing a fine job and I thank you sir. Sincerely, Minardith William Meredith 606-784-7030
