Dear Mr. President:
On behalf of the officers and directors of The
Associated Press Managing Editors Association, I want
to say thank you very much for your appearance at our
annual meeting in Orlando last month.
We felt very honored that you decided to come, and
were unashamedly pleased at the recognition it brought
to our organization.
As you know, there has been considerable comment
about that press conference -- the way you conducted
yourself, the format which we developed within the frame-
work set forth by the White House, and the quality of the
questions asked by the editors. We felt, in general, that
it worked out well for us. We hope you felt it worked out
as well for you.
I believe I am not exaggerating when I say that
this was the most noteworthy occasion in the forty-year
history of the APME, and for this we are sincerely grateful.
Sincerely yours,
Robert P. Clark
