Nixon Dear Mr. President: I am not much of a letter writer, however I wanted to write you and tell you how thankful I am that the War is over and how wonderful I think our men who where prisoners of war are. The statments they have been making as they come home make me more sure tha in ever that we where right in what we did as a nation. I am very very proud of being an American and still get a chill when I hear the Star Bangeled Banner. I thank god every day for the fact that I live in this country and am dam proud of the country and its way of Government. I guess I am one of the so called silent majority but at this time I just had to express myself to someone and felt that the someone should be you. This is still the greatest country in the world and people who don't think so should try to pull some of thier nonsense in another country, I am speaking about the ones who can find nothing better to do but find faults with our country and our goverment. I think that the way you have handeled the entire far east problem was strong and great. The bombing was a necessary thing and if the loud mouths who where rasing hell over that fact would shut up and be a little honest with themsleves they would know that you must answ er fire with fire.
