Dear Mrs. Carter:
Thank you so much for a lovely morning visit yesterday.
You appeared so enthusiastic and full of joy in your new home
despite your many new responsibilities. The years ahead are
full of possibilities and I know you and your family will do
much for the people, especially the powerless.
I was deeply encouraged by your willingness to present
to the President a report on Mental Retardation along with
your report on Mental Health. I am enclosing some additional
names for the President's Committee on Retardation, as I
promised to do yesterday. Also I am enclosing a copy of a
letter I sent today to Secretary Califano.
Let me know if I can be of any help in the future.
Thank you for charming and challenging moments yesterday.
Sincerely,
Enge
