He was delighted to receive it, as well as the copy of letter you received from your son, who is stationed at Camp Lee. Honorable President Roosevelt, White House, Washington, D.C. Sir: I am enclosing a letter which I received from my son after the dastardly attack on our flag in Pearl Harbor. I want you to believe Sir, that I am not in the habit of writing letters to one whose responsibility is so great and whose courage is even greater, that I hesitated before sending you the enclosed. The reason I am sending you this, is that I, and hundreds of others to whom I have shown this letter, were so impressed with the morale which is prevalent in our armed forces that you too, as a father, and as our Leader, might get just a little encouragement from one of its citizens.
