Your message reflects the compassion and concern of people in all nations who are responding to the tragic suffering in Cambodia. Following Mrs. Carter's return from her fact finding mission, President Carter ordered an immediate United States airlift of special food and other supplies to Indochinese refugee camps in Thailand. The President has also approved an immediate $2 million grant to UNICEF to buy rice for the refugees and $4 million for the care and maintenance of refugee camps. This money is part of the $69 million previously committed. The President also moved to expedite an increase in the number of Cambodian refugees to this country and a review of the refugee resettlement process in Thailand. Because the White House is unable to accept money or act as inter- mediary in the mail, we are returning yours with our thanks for your thoughtfulness.
