Mrs. Roselyn Carter
I'm writing in regards to the Christmas
tree decarations that were sent to you
by the retarded persons. My concern is
the disposition of these decorations
after the Christmas season.
If these decarations are not going to
be kept by you or your staff I would
like to suggest that you have an auc-
tion and auction them off as collectors
items ; give the proceeds to the re-
tarded foundation.
The tree and decorations looked beauti-
ful on TV and it seems ashame that they
would be destroyed.
Sincerely,
R.A. Herman

Dear Mrs. Carter:

I have read of the 2500 decorations
House tree this year. I realize that their
value is transitory, and they will no doubt
be disearded after the holidays.
as an item from the white House, they
should have added value. Why not allow
a charity to fell them, either at auction or
at a pet price? l realize that the charity
must be chosen carefully, and a decision would
be necessary on whether they would be pold at
one or several locations.
