Honorable Herbert Hoover,
Palo Alto, Calif.
My dear Mr. Hoover:
I have read the article appearing
in the Examiner of Monday, November 14, 1938, and I am taking
the liberty of writing you to express to you my heartfelt
gratitude and deep and sincere appreciation of the thoughts
and sentiments as expressed by your good self with respects
to the treatment of our Jewish people in Germany.
It is indeed with a sad heart that
we read how they are imposing such great suffering and torture
upon the Jews in Germany who are innocent of the propaganda
and untruths which the powers in Germany are spreading through-
out the world.
I know that the many thousands of
persons of Jewish faith throughout our great nation who have
read this article feel as I do with regard to the statement
coming from an honorable and revered man as you.
I have been in business in Oakland
for twenty-five years. I also have three brothers who are in
business in Oakland, and three of us have been over-seas
and have seen actual service in the World War and we well know
and appreciate the wonderful work you have done and the wonderful
things you have given to the world.
I am sending this article which
appeared in the Examiner to Rabbi Wm. M. Stern of Temple Sinai,
Oakland, and I am also asking him that at his Temple services
on this coming Friday evening, November 18th, that a prayer be
said for you and yours.
My dear Mr. Hoover, if I can be of
any service to you or yours at any time I trust that God will
give me strength to do SO.
May God bless you, my dear Mr. Hoover,
and may he grant to you and your dear ones a long life with
continued good health, peace and happiness.
Respectfully and gratefully,
WMRaentha
