Honorable Herbert Hoover,
The White House
Washington, D.C.,
Tyly
My dear Mr. President:
It was with profound gratitude that I read
your address at Valley Forge in the New
York Times. And although I have suffered
reverses, the heart of this speech you
delivered there has fired me with a new
determination that this my Valley Forge
shall be the conquering ground from which
victories shall rally in days to come.
And although the tariff wall has possibly
been built too high for the best interest
of the United States, I am one of those Texas
Democrats that voted for you in the last
presidential election and, in the main, have
no cause to regret doing so. And while the
air is full of "Hoover has ruined us", here
is one among thousands, yea millions that
believe in you and have faith in your noble
administration. I am seeking no favor at
your hands, but just wanted to write you these
few lines to express to you my personal
appreciation for you in these stressful days
thru which our country is passing, for your
courage and fortitude that endure and the
unselfish motive that prompts them.
May God in His infinite wisdom continue to
guide you in leadership.
Sincerely,
OSB:WK
