December 19, 1974 Mrs. Betty Ford The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Washington, DC Dear Mrs. Ford: Two weeks after you had your recent surgery, I entered the hospital to have the same operation. I am 25, and as everyone surely thinks, I never thought it would happen to me. All of this has of course made me realize, cancer is indeed a real problem and not just something that happens to other people. You and your family provided a great public service by the example that you set with the result being increased public awareness and education on the subject. I know you surely helped my family and friends deal with the situation. I am hoping you and Mrs. Rockefeller will be able to use your influence as leading women in our country to help insure further cancer research funds are not cut and even hopefully more money can be found for such research and possibly very soon there may be a cure and the disease can be totally wiped out. Wishing you and your family the very best Sincerely, Donia a. Ellen Mrs. Donna A. Eller 11106 Polaris Dr. San Diego, CA. 92126 FORD & 1954 DEC Sv VW 10 00 GERALD LIBRARY Mrs. Donna A.
