UNOFFICIAL TRANSLATION OF THE MESSAGE ADDRESSED TO MRS. NANCY REAGAN
BY MRS. MARIAPIA FANFANI, WIFE OF SENATOR AMINTORE FANFANI, PRESIDENT
OF THE ITALIAN SENATE.
"Dear Nancy:
My husband and I have received with great satisfaction
reassuring news regarding the health of the President and we wanted to
send you our most sincere and affectionate best wishes.
I regret that I shall not have the possibility to see
you partecipate at the events organized by the "Together for Peace" Com-
mittee in Verona on September 2 and 3, but I fully understand your moti-
vations.
However, since I feel that the United States of America
cannot be present, I am wondering if it would not be possible for you
to be represented by a qualified person, such as Maureen who is also so
close to the subject matter of the above meeting.
I have also been informed that even the U.S. Red Cross will
not be present and I should be grateful to you if you would kindly use
your good offices in order that the negative decision could be re-examined.
Thanking you in advance for all that you will be able to do
in order to ensure that the Verona meetings will be a success, of which
also the great friendly country of America would benefit, I extend to the
President and to yourself, also on behalf of my husband, my best and most
sincere wishes.
Amintore and Mariapia Fanfani"

TEXT OF THE MESSAGE ADDRESSED TO MRS. NANCY REAGAN BY MRS. MARIAPIA
FANFANI, WIFE OF THE SENATOR AMINTORE FANFANI, PRESIDENT OF THE ITA-
LIAN SENATE.
"Cara Nancy,
bene.
Amintore e Mariapia Fanfani"
