President Lyndon B. Johnson
Whitehouse
Washington, D.C.
Honorable President Johnson:
I am writing these few lines to congratulate
you for becoming our President and also to thank you
for the fine examples that you gave me when you were
my teacher in Cotula, Texas, at Wellhousen School in
Cotula. I was very surprised when I saw a class pic-
ture in a magazine showing you and my class. I eas-
ily recognized myself in the picture and memories
came back to me.
I am now Chief Cook at Cameron County Jail in
Brownsville, Texas, and have worked there for 15 years
since I got out of the Army.
I want to let you know how proud of you we are
and if I can ever help you in anything in this area,
please let me know.
Wishing you a Happy New Year and good health
all through your life, I remain,
Yours truly,
Hilario S. Perez
