Herbert Hoover, President of the United States, Washington, D.C. Dear Mr. President: I wish to express my appreciation of your Memorial Day Address at Gettysburg. In my opinion your short talk on that day will be remembered by future generations. This is your Masterpiece, so far, and will endure for a long time. The Council given in your address is very timely and I hope will be heeded by the American People. Gettysburg is my Ancestorial home. My Grandfather was the Methodist Minister there when the Battle was fought. My father was in the Union Army my grandfather and his family heard Lincoln's Address. I expect to see your Memorial Day Address take rank with Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, his Second Inaugural and other great Speeches of history. With highest regards, I am Sincerely yours, Harvey W.
