Letter from Francesco Bivona to President Gerald Ford about the 1976 Presidential Election Campaign and the Pardon of President Richard Nixon

But, before then, I would like to voice my opinion over what you had publicly stated about those European states. I feel you should have elaborated a little, because I suspect what you really meant, is that SPIRITUALLY, THOSE COUNTRIES CONSIDER THEMSELVES INDEPENDENT OF RUSSIAN DOMINATION, AS THEY LIVE IN THE HOPE OF BEING EVENTUALLY FREE. As for your pardon of ex-President Nixon, that, for me, was a noble gesture; it showed not only compassion and true understanding on your part, but it set a fine Christian example for our nation and the world. In fact, even today many still look up to our ex-President, both at home and abroad (as when I last went to Bermuda people there thought highly of Nixon and even wished we had allowed him to finish out his term of office).
