BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA Los Angeles District Council RECEIVED MAR. THE 17 WHITE WHITE HOUSE 19.3 HOUSE MALCOLM McNAGHTEN 1204 South Hill Street President E. B. DeGROOT LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA Scout Executive Phone WEstmore 2116 ackin-30 March 14, 1930. Herbert Hoover, President, United States of America, Washington, D. C. Dear Mr. President: In your contribution on the occasion of the celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America, in Washington, on March 10th., you made the most penetrating and dynamically helpful statements that any statesman has ever made in the cause of organized boyhood. As one of the long-time workers in the Boy Scout Movement, I cannot refrain from expressing my sincere and grateful appreciation to you for your effort. It was a supreme "good turn" no less to the manhood than the boyhood of the Nation. Incidentally, my son Dudley S. DeGroot, Stanford 1924, enjoyed the campus friendship of your very fine sons. Mutual respect and admiration of a very helpful character existed between our boys. Your sons will remember "Dud" as Varsity football captain, great swimmer, basketball star, Major of the R. 0. T. C., campus leader, Phi Beta Kappa. With increasing admiration for your noble and effective leadership of the political, economic and social forces of our beloved country, I am Yours sincerely, E. B. DEGROOT, SCOUT EXECUTIVE. EBD-LR. P.P.F. DeGreet; Scout Executive, 1204 South Hill Street, Los Angeles, California. jee
