5/9 Alan Benchin April 28,1964 ROOM CEIVED TO: President of the United States 1600 Penn. Avenue Washington 25 D.C. Dear Mr. President: When you became president on Nov. 22, 1963, you asked this nation for our help. As a young citizen I wish to thank you for the help you are giving to the youth of this nation, however I feel that with all the help there should be someone to administor the different programs.I feel that a secretary of youth affairs should be created at all hast under the exective branch of the government. To assit the secretary a youth should assit him. This would bring prestige to the youth of the nation and also to the world. The prestige to the youth is that a youth of this nation is a active member of the government. If a women can help in this nation ,why can't a youth serve in the white house? Maybe a youth could be the secretary with a staff of youth to help, with members of government to act as advisors.I feel a yuong citizen connected with the exective branch would help both you and the youth of this nation. Mr. President, If you yourself feel that this idea is a good one, I am at your call to serve you, the youth of this nation and my government. I can serve, I have been on the student cuuncil for five years in my old high school and served on committees in my community before leaving High School last June.
