Bass Anglers Sportsman OF Society anne Wet len POST OFFICE BOX 3044, MONTGOMERY, ALA. 36109 205/272-9530 BASS RAY SCOTT, PRESIDENT BASS ANGLERS CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD SPORTSMAN SOCIETY BOB COBB September 22, 1978 EDITOR BASS MASTER MAGAZINE The President The White House Washington, D.C. 20500 Dear Mr. President: The Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (BASS) and our state affiliates, the BASS Chapter Federations, support your valiant efforts to establish a new national water policy. BASS is a sportsfishing/conservation organization having nearly 296,000 members nationwide. Conservation of our national water resources is one of our major concerns. We therefore wholeheartily support your pledged vetos of the Public Works Appropriations Bill (HR 12928) and the Lock 26/Waterway User Fee Bill (HR 8309). As you know, Mr. President, these bills contain everything you have pledged to oppose: inflationary projects, expansion of government, and environmental damage. In our judgement, you have every justification for vetoing this legislation. We therefore support your efforts in this regard. Sincerely, Boh Barker Bob Barker National Federation Director BB/jd DEDICATED TO THE BASS FISHERMEN OF AMERICA
