Reagan President of the United States The White House Washington, D.C. 20500 Dear Mr. President: I wanted to write to you to tell you how much I am in favor of your economic policy. I feel certain that you are headed in the right direction and time will prove that you are correct in your decisions. I am a native of Laurium, Michigan; birthplace of George Gipp. My father was a boyhood friend of George and George taught Dad how to shoot pool. I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed your por- trayal of the "Gipper" in "Knute Rockne, All American" in 1941. I was a very impressionable 13 year old at that time and vividly re- call that fine movie. Also, we had a mutual friend, the late Mr. Dee Austin, whom I understand was an elementary school teacher of yours in Dixon, Ill. I became acquainted with, and very fond of Dee, here in Coldwater, while engaged in American Legion and Elk activities. Dee was very active in both organizations. I had the good fortune to meet David Stockman when he was runn- ing for Congress from our district in Michigan.
