Dear President Kennedy,
As a mother, I wish to express
my sympathy for your recent loss of
your son Patrick.
I feel a letter, at this time,
urging you to work toward Peace
-and an end to the destructive
use of Neuclear energy is
unnecessary. The pollution of our
atmosphere with Neuclear fallout
and the results to our generation
lopen
and the generations -2- to follow are
well Known to you.
was an excellent one. I feel that
Your speech at American University
we should not hate the people
of the Soviet Union because we do
not agree with their Political System.
I have tried to bring up my own
two children to feel a Kinship to
people of all races, colors and creeds all
over the world and to devote their time
and energy to helping others. My oldest
is only 612 years old but already is
doing as much to help others as many
adults do,
All through last winter she sent a
big part of her allowance to CARE.
This summer she started, with 24
other children in our neighborhood, a
stand. They make various craft
items, bake cookies etc. and make
cold drinks. All the money they
make goes to CARE, to help people
all over the world. So far they have
earned $70 and their goal for the
Summer is $100. Some of the children
are receiving Public Assistance. Yet
they were able to recognize the
needs of others less fortunate than
themselves and devote many hours of
work and some of their own money
and food to helping others. If
only more adults were as
unselfish as these children cover)
the world would indeed be a far better
place to live in.
When people say, "What is becoming
of our younger generation, "and talk
about Juvenile Deliquency, I think our
children are doing amazingly well for
the complex, insecure world they are
growing up in. We certainly owe our
children our strongest efforts for
a Peaceful World.
Sincerely,
(Mrsi) Louis Brecker
