Re: Deputy Associate Administrator
Office of: Juvenile Justice and
Deliquency Prevention, U.S.
Department of Justice
Dear Mr. President:
William Sylvester White, an able and respected Circuit Court Judge from
Cook County, is a candidate for the above position which, I understand, is
scheduled to be filled within a few days. Judge White would bring a unique
combination of administrative experience and legal expertise to the office.
For the past 12 years he has presided over our Juvenile Court. He is Black,
and his appointment would evidence and implement this Administration's
concern about minorities both in government and in the Justice system.
Judge White is a past President of the National Council of Juvenile and
Family Court Judges and locally is a faithful supporter of good programs,
He is well qualified for this position. His appointment would indeed be an
asset to the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention and a
personal favor to me.
Best wishes and warmest regards.
Yours in peace and freedom,
Reverend Jenel yaut
