Mr Dear Mr Hoover:- 6/3 I wish to offer my congratulations to you on your speach at Gettysburg Pa on memorial day May 30th 1930. It may seem a bit strange to have me write you in regards this, but as I sat in my home here in Redfield S. Dak many miles away listning in on the radio to think that I had the pleasure again to hear a president of the United States deliver an address on that historical field. When a boy of 9 years old I had the pleasure of hearing our lamented President Abraham Lincoln deliver the address when he dédicated the monument there on that cold November day 1863 and it always has been one of the events in my life to look back and recall that incident. and I had never thought that I might some day hear another Presidant of the United States deliver an address on the same spot. but thanks to the Radio and the chain hook up I was again given that previlage of again hearing an address by one of our Presidents. My wish is that when you take your trip this summer to the western country that you might find some way that you could include South Dakota in that trip and especiall the Black Hills. In order that you may not think that I am some crank writing this letter I could refer you to the Hon Thomas Sterling Senator Norbeck & McMaster ansd several others that know me.
