GENERAL BE5-3 October 3, 1974 FI1-2 Dear Mrs. Jones: Thank you for your recent letter expressing your interest and concern for our Nation's current economic problems. As you know, I consider inflation public enemy number one. As such, it is receiving top priority treatment from myself and my staff. With hard work and your continued cooperation and support, I am optimistic of our chances for promoting stabilization in our economy once again. With my appreciation for your views and best wishes. Sincerely, GERALD R. FORD GERALD R. FORD X Mrs. Carol Jones Ten Plaza Street Brooklyn, New York 11238 GRF:JB:RM:JHH:frw W P-14 60 RECEIVED OCT 1 81974 BENTRAL 1. Dell' economic problems 1015742140 dom-phylition C52 p14 Ten Plaza Street Brooklyn New York 11238 September 6, 1974 Office of The President of the United States 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Washington, D.C. 20001 Dear Mr. President: As a citizen, consumer, employee, and homemaker I applaud your concern and your policy on inflation. I cannot help but feel that those "economists" who are begging for more fiat into our cash system are the same ones who got us all into this state in the first place. Obviously, getting a curb on government spending is going to hurt; obviously, cutting credit lines is going to hurt; obviously, someone is going to be out of work for a time but, just as obviously, you are going to be remembered as the President that took the Bull by the horns to do something to get us all back, and the gold back, into a sensible way of life. Thanks for your help. Of course, this will be a bitter pill to swallow. But I am proud to see the man in the White House who has the courage to lead his nation forward to avoid a disasterous conclusion if these remedies are not taken. Chin up. Sincerely, FORD LIBRARY y GERALD Caral Jones (Mrs.) Carol Jones
