Dr. Fernando Cardoso, President of Brazil to President Clinton re: Oklahoma City Bombing

DRAZIL EMPASS1 Message by the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Dr. Fernando Henrique Cardoso It was with deep sorrow that I learned this afternoon about the hideous terrorist act that made so many innocent victims in Oklahoma City. In a time where freedom and democracy have proven to be universal aspirations of mankind, this kind of manifestation can only be strongly condemned and fought against by all those who favor a peaceful environment as the best guarantee of happiness for all. Having the honor of being in a State visit in this country, where at each moment I could personally witness the friendship and warmth of the American people, I would like, in my name and in the name of all Brazilians, to bring to this people and especially to the family of the victims of this repulsive act of violence, a message of solidarity and comfort in this moment of grief.
